Make Your Next Salon & Spa Visit a Great One!

I always enjoy going to the salon or spa.  I love having someone pay attention to me and help keep me looking my best.   When you are greeted with a smile and made to feel special, it heightens your experience and ultimately makes you want to go back to that establishment.  I always research a new salon before I visit.  I search online, read reviews on Yelp or get recommendations from friends and family.

The holidays are quickly approaching and this is a busy time for salon's and spa's.  Keep reading for my tips from personal experience to make your salon or spa experience a memorable one - and keep you going back!

Once you've done your research and have settled on a place, call to make your appointment(s).  If it's your first time visiting a particular salon or spa don't be afraid to ask questions. For example: Do they accept debit cards?  Can you leave a tip with your credit card or should you bring cash?

Next: ALWAYS BE ON TIME!  There is nothing more annoying than having to wait for your appointment because the person ahead of you was late for their's.  We are all busy people and we all have places to go. There are some spa's that will charge your credit card for the services you booked - even if you don't show up.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO SPEAK UP!  If you are getting your hair done, tell your stylist what you want.  Even better: bring pictures.  Pictures help them to visualize what you want and together you can create a plan of action.  If you are getting waxed, make sure there is no double dipping in the wax pot.  That's how bacteria spreads and you'll be more likely to break out if the wax gets double dipped for everyone who goes in and out of that chair everyday (not to mention, it's just gross!).

Finally, once you're looking all gorgeous and all don't forget to tip!  Generally you tip 15-20% of the cost of services but you can be your own judge.  If you really like the result or are a regular you may tend to tip a little more than if you dislike the outcome or didn't receive great service.  If you are unhappy about something, now would be the time to let the receptionist or manager know.  They can take your feedback and help make your next visit a better one.  And if you really didn't like your visit, well there are tons of places out there that would love your business!  So don't be afraid to 'shop' around or ask friends, family or even people on the street where they got their hair/brows/nails done if you like the look.  Word of mouth is the best advertising!
